Tonight

When lights are dim and blackness bright,

When secrets lie beneath my sight

Awaken in the dead of night,

I choose to go.

To ponder of preceding woe,

To drown in pits of deep shallow,

And veil the stories that I know –

They wouldn’t comprehend;

The road that seeks no blatant end,

The paths and courses that I bend,

The thoughts I shall defend,

To remain in the woods – (at home)

In my isolated, ever-expanding dome,

In the passages I have yet to roam,

In oceans I swim, and in airs I take flight,

Somewhere near, yet beyond myself, tonight.
